Privacy, text messages and accessibility

Privacy policy

This policy covers nearyoullc.com and the client and crew app at app.nearyoullc.com, run by HANDYMAN NEAR YOU LLC, a Washington-registered contractor (L&I #HANDYNY745PF) based in Bothell, Washington.

What we collect

When you request an estimate, create a login or apply for a job, we receive what you enter: first name, phone, email, project address, project details and any photos you add. Logged-in clients also see the requests, estimates and invoices tied to their account. Job applicants give us the details in their application. Crew members' work records in the app (such as hours and job photos) are explained in the crew handbook.

The website also keeps simple, anonymous visit counts: pages viewed, the approximate city of your internet connection, the website that sent you and the type of device. The public website sets no cookies and uses no advertising or analytics trackers. If you log in, the app uses a sign-in cookie to keep you signed in.

How we use it

Only to reply about your project, schedule and do the work, send quotes and invoices, keep job records, and protect the site from abuse. We don't sell your information or share it for advertising. Photos you send are used to evaluate your project and are never published without your permission; before-and-after photos on this site never show tenant or owner details.

Who else handles it

Cloudflare hosts the website and app and stores requests and photos. The service-area map loads map pictures from OpenStreetMap, which sees your internet address when the map loads. Fonts are served from this website itself. If your project needs a licensed trade (for example an electrician), we share only what they need to do that job, with your OK. We'll also share information if the law requires it.

How long we keep it

Requests and job records are kept while they're useful for your project and as long as the law requires (for example, contractor disclosure statements are kept for 3 years). Anonymous visit counts are deleted after about 13 months.

Your choices

To see what we have on file, correct it or have it deleted, email nearyoullc@gmail.com or call or text (206) 247-5088. We'll answer within 30 days, usually the same day.

Security and data breaches

Pages and forms are encrypted in transit (HTTPS), and access to requests is limited to the people who need it to do the work. If personal information is ever exposed, we'll notify affected people within 30 days, and the Washington Attorney General if more than 500 Washington residents are affected, as RCW 19.255.010 requires.

Health data

We don't ask for or collect consumer health data as Washington's My Health My Data Act (RCW 19.373) defines it, and we don't track precise location on this website. Please leave health details out of requests. If a request mentions something like grab bars or accessibility work, we use it only to quote and do that job and never share it for any other purpose.

Children

This site isn't meant for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information. If you think a child sent us something, contact us and we'll delete it.

Text message terms

• What you get: texts from HANDYMAN NEAR YOU LLC about your own estimate request or job: replies, scheduling, quotes, invoices and job updates. We don't send marketing texts.
• How you agree: by sending an estimate request or creating a login with your phone number. Texts aren't required to get an estimate; you can ask for a call or email instead.
• How often: message frequency varies with your project. Message and data rates may apply.
• Stop or get help: reply STOP to stop texts or HELP for help. You can also tell us any other way (call, email), and we'll stop.
• Your number stays with us: we don't sell or share phone numbers or text consent with anyone for marketing.
• Carriers aren't liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

Accessibility

We want this website to work for everyone, including people who use screen readers, keyboards, voice control or zoom. We design and test it against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 level AA: automated checks at phone and desktop sizes, keyboard checks, text labels on every form field and button, and a slideshow that respects reduced-motion settings and can be paused.

The service-area map is easiest to use with a mouse or touch screen; the same information is in the list of towns next to it.
